Vacation is over…
We are back in North Texas and adjusting to our normal routines. It was a nice break not working for the past few weeks. What a treat! I feel bad for other photographers who have to work while they are gone. It was such a nice time of rest and relaxation!
I did take a few photos of the girls out and about and will be posting those over the next few days.
Now back to my the many many work photos that need to be edited– thanks for being patient with me!!
The girls and I are having a great vacation. They are enjoying the Pennsylvania weather and the huge backyard to play in. I am enjoying the peace and quiet of small town America. I have barely picked up my camera in three days. It has been a weird but nice feeling not to be shooting everything I see. I sense that tomorrow may be a camera day– maybe some farms and old town buildings.
Remember to call your Dad today! (or tomorrow, depending on the time zone you’re reading this from)

Even though it was hot, we had fun taking theses photos. Dale is such a nice young man and I am certain he will have a fantastic life which will take him to many exciting places.
All the best to you, Dale!

Such a kind, loving and sweet couple. I am so honored to have been a part of their special day. Congratulations!

I am strong
All because of you
I stand in awe of
Every mountain that you move
I am changed
Yesterday is gone
I am safe
From this moment on…
And there’s no fear when the night comes ’round
I’m in better hands now…

We had a very bad storm last night. I didn’t take the tornado warnings seriously until I saw the meteorologist point at our neighborhood on the map and tell us that the storm, very likely containing a tornado, was headed our way in the next few minutes.
My oldest who is very aware of the damage that a Texas storm can cause (a house 6 doors down was struck by lightning and burned Easter morning) was on the verge of hyperventilating. My daughters and I huddled in our downstairs closet and covered ourselves with a blanket. My husband was monitoring the storm via TV and then by two-way radio after we lost power.
Inside the closet, the three of us huddled together and I tried to keep them calm. As the wind howled and rain beat against our windows we heard the shrill of the sirens outside. It was the first time since moving to Texas eight years ago that I actually thought we might be in danger. It was a very sobering moment.
My 7 year old daughter started praying “God be with us, God protect us, God be with us…” over and over. She was petrified. As we held hands and prayed she suddenly blurted out “God, please protect us from the storm–please! And God, I know you love us and I love you and if you decide not to make the storm pass by and if a tornado hits our house, I will still love you and I will still praise your name forever.”
Wow! It is such a beautiful moment when you hear such powerful words spoken from a child. It touched my heart. How comforting to be her mom and know that she gets it!
