While you were sleeping…

While you were sleeping,
I sat by your bed.
I watched you
as you smiled through your dreams.

I traced your perfect shell ear,
Touched every curl
On your little head.

I tried to sleep
But the sound of your breathing
Drew me back to your room.

I couldn’t resist
The magic which tugged
At my heartstrings
And brought me to your side.

I settled on the floor
Once again.
Back against the wall,
Holding your tiny hand in mine.

While you were sleeping
I fell in love with you all over again.

Swim classes ended today.

I am now the proud mother of two fish-girls. My youngest has started growing gills.

The great-gilled one, Arianna.swima05small.jpg

How Arianna spent much of her lessons–throwing herself into the water backwards and bottoms down!swima06small.jpg

NO FEAR!swima08small.jpg

I had no idea that they would do so well. I am considering enrolling them in a Fall class so that they are both ready for our trip to the islands in November.

Having fun on the slide with Daddy.swima07_edited-1.jpg

Family Photos

Some people do not enjoy working with families. I do and it is always an extra special treat when you get a happy, relaxed (and good looking) family that shows up willing to do whatever it takes to make the photo. I really enjoyed this shoot. It was their first family photo taken in many years and I was honored to be a part of the process. Even a little fall into the water didn’t spoil the fun.

I love my daughters. They are so different from each other, but both are just “little” big people in my eyes. Today I was sitting and talking to my oldest daughter (age 5). I learned that our musical duckie sings to “Singing in the drain ” and, before he rose from the dead, Jesus laid in a “tube” for three days. Who knew?!?!

**Swim lessons are going great!

Fun in the sun today

We had a great day in the pool. The rain has finally left north Texas (yeah!) at least for a few days and our backyard is no longer a swamp. The sun was nice and bright and we all had a blast in the pool. Of course, I couldnt just sit and watch. I had to run inside and grab my camera. Swim lessons start tomorrow…

Sweet sweet babies

I am sitting here watching The Nativity Story. (yes, I am very behind on my movies, I know.) Mary delights when she first feels her baby move inside her belly. I remember how excited I was when my daughters moved inside me. I loved laying in bed at night and watching my stomach move. How excited I was when I was finally able to tell which bumps were the head and which bumps were my daughters “bee-hind”! I love photographing babies. Sometimes they look so serious, like they are deep in thought and minutes later they are cooing and laughing and chewing on their toes without a single care in the world.

Lauren was only five days old when I met her. She spent the morning drinking with her mama and sleeping in her basket.
