Island Time
Every now and again it is important to slow down and enjoy life. (We were reminded over and over how much slower things move when you’re “on the islands.”) We had the opportunity to relax this past week and it was wonderful.
My husband and I were married on St. John and it will always be a very special place for us. We took my parents back to show them where we were married and we all four renewed our wedding vows. (Those photos will be posted in a few weeks as we hired a photographer for the occasion.)
This past week my five year old learned how to snorkel at Hawksnest Beach– she was so excited that she saw five fish! My youngest learned about iguanas, sand crabs and coral. Both girls LOVED swimming in the ocean; absolutely no fear at all.
The hardest part for me was packing my little point and shoot camera instead of my new camera and lens. I felt better when our hired photographer told me that the sand and salty air really do destroy your camera.
We had such a wonderful time in the sun and sand with our family that we went a little crazy and came home being Virgin Island property owners. We are excited about going back every year to celebrate and watch our daughters enjoy being little Texas beach babies.
Now it is back to chilly, rainy, faster-paced reality.
As they say in the islands, “No worries, mon…”
